Unshakable Freedom: Pure Awareness in Every Condition
This section of the Avadhuta Gita continues to dissolve the boundaries that the mind loves to create — size, shape, time, roles, truth vs illusion. Here, Sage Dattatreya shows how the Self is untouched by all measurement, judgment, and mental categories.
Each verse ends with a powerful declaration:
"I am the nectar of knowledge, homogeneous existence, like the sky."

🔹 Verse 3:21 — Beyond Shape and Size
Sanskrit:
दीर्घो लघुः पुनरितीह नमे विभागो
विस्तारसंकटमितीह न मे विभागः।
कोणं हि वर्तुलमितीह न मे विभागो
ज्ञानामृतं समरसं गगनोपमोऽहम्॥
Translation:
I have no divisions as long or short,
no width or narrowness,
no angular or circular form.
I am the nectar of knowledge, uniform, like the sky.
Hindi:
मैं न लंबेपन में हूँ, न छोटेपन में।
न विस्तार में, न संकीर्णता में।
न कोण में, न वृत्त में।
मैं ज्ञान का अमृत हूँ, समरस, आकाश के समान।
Insight:
The Self is not measured or shaped. Your true nature cannot be limited by physical or mental boundaries.
🔹 Verse 3:22 — No Birth, No Death
Sanskrit:
मातापितादि तनयादि न मे कदाचित्
जातं मृतं न च मनो न च मे कदाचित्।
निर्व्याकुलं स्थिरमिदं परमार्थतत्त्वं
ज्ञानामृतं समरसं गगनोपमोऽहम्॥
Translation:
I never had a mother, father, son, or lineage.
I was never born, nor did I die.
I never had a mind.
This supreme reality is calm and undistracted.
Hindi:
मेरी न माता है, न पिता, न पुत्र, न कोई अन्य संबंध।
न मैं जन्मा, न मरा।
न मेरा कोई मन है।
यह परम तत्त्व निश्चल और निर्विकार है।
मैं ज्ञान का अमृत हूँ, समरस, आकाश के समान।
Insight:
Your essence predates all family, roles, and identities. Birth and death are for the body — not for the Self.
🔹 Verse 3:23 — Infinite and Indivisible
Sanskrit:
शुद्धं विशुद्धमविचारमनन्तरूपं
निर्लेपलेपमविचारमनन्तरूपम्।
निष्खण्डखण्डमविचारमनन्तरूपं
ज्ञानामृतं समरसं गगनोपमोऽहम्॥
Translation:
I am pure, very pure — beyond reason, of infinite form.
Without attachment or with — yet beyond reason.
Whole or fragmented — yet beyond reason.
I am the nectar of knowledge, like the sky.
Hindi:
मैं शुद्ध हूँ, अत्यंत शुद्ध, तर्क से परे, अनंत रूप वाला।
मैं लिप्तता और अलिप्तता से परे, तर्कातीत, अनंत रूप वाला हूँ।
मैं अखंड और खंड दोनों से परे, फिर भी तर्कातीत, अनंत हूँ।
मैं ज्ञान का अमृत हूँ, समरस, आकाश के समान।
Insight:
You are not here to fit into categories. You are what contains all opposites and transcends them.
🔹 Verse 3:24 — No Gods, No Heavens
Sanskrit:
ब्रह्मादयः सुरगणाः कथमत्र सन्ति
स्वर्गादयो वसतयः कथमत्र सन्ति।
यद्येकरूपममलं परमार्थतत्त्वं
ज्ञानामृतं समरसं गगनोपमोऽहम्॥
Translation:
If the supreme reality is one and stainless,
how can gods like Brahma exist?
How can heavens or other abodes exist?
I am the nectar of knowledge, like the sky.
Hindi:
यदि परम सत्य एकरूप और निर्मल है,
तो ब्रह्मा आदि देवताओं की उपस्थिति कैसे हो सकती है?
और स्वर्ग जैसे स्थान कैसे संभव हैं?
मैं ज्ञान का अमृत हूँ, समरस, आकाश के समान।
Insight:
Spirituality is not about other realms — it’s about realizing the formless truth here and now.
🔹 Verse 3:25 — Beyond Speech and Attributes
Sanskrit:
निर्नेति नेति विमलो हि कथं वदामि
निःशेषशेषविमलो हि कथं वदामि।
निर्लिङ्गलिङ्गविमलो हि कथं वदामि
ज्ञानामृतं समरसं गगनोपमोऽहम्॥
Translation:
How can I speak, I who am "not this, not that"?
How can I speak, I who am both complete and without parts?
How can I speak, I who am with and without attributes?
I am the sky-like nectar of knowledge.
Hindi:
जो 'नेति नेति' है, जो निष्कलंक है, वह कैसे बोले?
जो शेष और निषेष दोनों है, वह कैसे बोले?
जो निराकार और साकार दोनों है, वह कैसे बोले?
मैं ज्ञान का अमृत हूँ, समरस, आकाश के समान।
Insight:
Truth can’t be spoken. It must be known directly — not by explanation but by realization.
🔹 Verse 3:26 — Joy Beyond Action
Sanskrit:
निष्कर्मकर्मपरमं सततं करोमि
निःसङ्गसङ्गरहितं परमं विनोदम्।
निर्देहदेहरहितं सततं विनोदं
ज्ञानामृतं समरसं गगनोपमोऽहम्॥
Translation:
I perform non-action as the highest action.
I am supreme joy, beyond attachment.
I am everlasting joy, with or without body.
I am the sky-like nectar of knowledge.
Hindi:
मैं सदा निष्कर्म कर्म करता हूँ।
मैं परम आनंद हूँ, जो संलग्नता और विरक्ति दोनों से रहित है।
मैं न शरीर हूँ न अशरीरी, फिर भी सदा आनंद स्वरूप हूँ।
मैं ज्ञान का अमृत हूँ, समरस, आकाश के समान।
Insight:
You don’t need to escape life to find peace. Just drop the idea of doership.
🔹 Verse 3:27 — Not Affected by Creation
Sanskrit:
मायाप्रपञ्चरचना न च मे विकारः।
कौटिल्यदम्भरचना न च मे विकारः।
सत्यानृतेति रचना न च मे विकारो
ज्ञानामृतं समरसं गगनोपमोऽहम्॥
Translation:
The illusion of the world doesn’t change me.
Deceit and pride don’t touch me.
Truth and lies do not alter me.
I am the nectar of knowledge, like the sky.
Hindi:
माया से बनी सृष्टि मुझमें कोई विकार नहीं लाती।
छल-कपट का निर्माण भी मुझमें विकार नहीं लाता।
सत्य और असत्य की संरचना भी मुझमें कोई परिवर्तन नहीं करती।
मैं ज्ञान का अमृत हूँ, समरस, आकाश के समान।

No matter what happens in your life or online, your essence remains pure.
🔹 Verse 3:28 — Free from Time and Thought
Sanskrit:
सन्ध्यादिकालरहितं न च मे वियोगो
ह्यन्तः प्रबोधरहितं बधिरो न मूकः।
एवं विकल्परहितं न च भावशुद्धं
ज्ञानामृतं समरसं गगनोपमोऽहम्॥
Translation:
I am beyond all time divisions like dusk and dawn.
I am neither inner awakening nor its absence.
I am not deaf or mute.
I am beyond all mental distinctions.
Hindi:
मैं संध्या जैसे समय से रहित हूँ।
मेरा कोई वियोग नहीं है।
न मैं अंतर्मुख हूँ, न जाग्रत।
न मैं बधिर हूँ, न मौन।
मैं विकल्पों से रहित हूँ, मन के भावों से भी नहीं शुद्ध होता।
मैं ज्ञान का अमृत हूँ, समरस, आकाश के समान।
Insight:
You are not purified by moods. You are already the awareness in which all moods rise and fall.
🔹 Verse 3:29 — Ever Free and Undisturbed
Sanskrit:
निर्नाथनाथरहितं हि निराकुलं वै
निश्चित्तचित्तविगतं हि निराकुलं वै।
संविद्धि सर्वविगतं हि निराकुलं वै
ज्ञानामृतं समरसं गगनोपमोऽहम्॥
Translation:
I am without master or servitude.
I am beyond mind and no-mind — always calm.
I know all yet transcend all — always calm.
I am the nectar of knowledge, like the sky.
Hindi:
मैं न स्वामी वाला हूँ, न निरस्वामी।
मैं चित्त और अचित्त दोनों से परे हूँ।
मैं सबकुछ जानने पर भी सबकुछ से परे हूँ।
मैं ज्ञान का अमृत हूँ, समरस, आकाश के समान।

Freedom is not in choosing better conditions — it’s in seeing that you are never disturbed to begin with.

Sanskrit:
कान्तारमन्दिरमिदं हि कथं वदामि
संसिद्धसंशयमिदं हि कथं वदामि।
एवं निरन्तरसमं हि निराकुलं वै
ज्ञानामृतं समरसं गगनोपमोऽहम्॥
Translation:
How can I say this is a temple or a forest?
How can I say this is proven or uncertain?
This is always even, always calm.
I am the sky-like nectar of knowledge.

मैं इसे जंगल कहूं या मंदिर, यह कैसे कहूं?
यह सिद्ध है या संदेहास्पद — यह कैसे कहूं?
यह निरंतर समभाव में है, निर्विकार और शांत।
