📘 Chapter 11: Vishwarupa Darshan Yoga (The Universal Form)
As the divine destruction unfolds before Arjuna’s eyes, he can no longer stay silent. The one question every soul must ask in the face of the infinite: “Who are You?”
🧨 Shlokas 31–40: Questioning the Infinite – The Truth Reveals Itself
🕉️ Shloka 31
Sanskrit:
आख्याहि मे को भवानुग्ररूपो
नमस्ते देववर प्रसीद |
विज्ञातुमिच्छामि भवन्तमाद्यं
न हि प्रजानामि तव प्रवृत्तिम् ॥11.31॥
Translation (English):
Tell me, who are You in this terrifying form? O Divine One, I bow to You — please be gracious. I wish to understand You, the Original Being. I do not know Your purpose.
Translation (Hindi):
हे उग्र रूपधारी प्रभु! आप कौन हैं, कृपया बताइए। मैं आपको नमन करता हूँ — कृपा कीजिए। मैं आपको मूल रूप से जानना चाहता हूँ, क्योंकि मैं आपकी प्रवृत्ति नहीं समझ पा रहा हूँ।
🔍 Deep Reflection:
When fear meets mystery, the soul seeks clarity. Arjuna is not just asking Krishna’s form — he’s asking about the meaning of life and death itself.
🪔 Modern Insight:
In moments of inner chaos, ask the deeper question. “What is this trying to show me?” leads to awakening.
🕉️ Shloka 32
Sanskrit:
श्रीभगवानुवाच |
कालोऽस्मि लोकक्षयकृत्प्रवृद्धो
लोकान्समाहर्तुमिह प्रवृत्तः |
ऋतेऽपि त्वां न भविष्यन्ति सर्वे
येऽवस्थिताः प्रत्यनीकेषु योधाः ॥11.32॥
Translation (English):
The Blessed Lord said: I am Time — the great destroyer of the worlds. I have come here to destroy all people. Even without you, all the warriors will cease to exist.
Translation (Hindi):
भगवान ने कहा: मैं काल हूँ — संसार का विनाश करने वाला। इन लोकों को नष्ट करने के लिए प्रकट हुआ हूँ। तुम्हारे बिना भी ये सभी विरोधी योद्धा मारे जाएँगे।
🔍 Deep Reflection:
Time — not Krishna the charioteer, but *Time itself*. This is not just divine form — it is fate, karma, and cosmic inevitability revealed.
🪔 Modern Insight:
You don’t control outcomes — only your actions. The rest is Time’s job. Accept it, and act anyway.
🕉️ Shloka 33
Sanskrit:
तस्मात्त्वमुत्तिष्ठ यशो लभस्व
जित्वा शत्रून्भुङ्क्ष्व राज्यं समृद्धम् |
मयैवैते निहताः पूर्वमेव
निमित्तमात्रं भव सव्यसाचिन् ॥11.33॥
Translation (English):
Therefore arise, O Arjuna! Win glory, conquer your enemies, and enjoy a prosperous kingdom. They have already been slain by Me; you are merely the instrument.
Translation (Hindi):
इसलिए, हे सव्यसाचिन्! उठो, यश प्राप्त करो, शत्रुओं को जीतकर समृद्ध राज्य का भोग करो। ये सब पहले ही मेरे द्वारा मारे जा चुके हैं — तुम तो केवल निमित्त मात्र हो।
🔍 Deep Reflection:
The deepest truth of karma yoga — you are not the doer. You are the vessel. Align with dharma, and let the universe flow through you.
🪔 Modern Insight:
Don’t carry the burden of the whole world. Be the channel, not the controller. Just do your part with courage and clarity.
🕉️ Shloka 34
Sanskrit:
द्रोणं च भीष्मं च जयद्रथं च
कर्णं तथान्यानपि योधवीरान् |
मया हतांस्त्वं जहि मा व्यथिष्ठा
युध्यस्व जेतासि रणे सपत्नान् ॥11.34॥
Translation (English):
Drona, Bhishma, Jayadratha, Karna, and other mighty warriors — they have already been slain by Me. Do not fear. Just fight and you will conquer your enemies.
Translation (Hindi):
द्रोण, भीष्म, जयद्रथ, कर्ण और अन्य वीर योद्धा मेरे द्वारा पहले ही मारे जा चुके हैं। इसलिए, तू भय न कर — युद्ध कर और विजय प्राप्त कर।
🔍 Deep Reflection:
Krishna removes Arjuna’s hesitation: Even the most revered warriors are not above cosmic law. Dharma doesn’t wait for comfort.
🪔 Modern Insight:
Do your duty, even when it's hard. Especially when it's hard. Truth is not always convenient — it’s essential.
🕉️ Shloka 35
Sanskrit:
सञ्जय उवाच |
एतच्छ्रुत्वा वचनं केशवस्य
कृताञ्जलिर्वेपमानः किरीटी |
नमस्कृत्वा भूय एवाह कृष्णं
सगद्गदं भीतभीतः प्रणम्य ॥11.35॥
Translation (English):
Sanjaya said: Hearing these words of Krishna, Arjuna, trembling, with folded hands, bowed again to Krishna and spoke, his voice choked with fear and devotion.
Translation (Hindi):
संजय ने कहा: केशव के वचन सुनकर किरीटी अर्जुन भयभीत होकर काँपते हुए, हाथ जोड़कर फिर से कृष्ण को प्रणाम करके, कंपित स्वर में बोला।
🔍 Deep Reflection:
This is not weakness — this is reverence. When divine truth is seen clearly, it shakes even the strongest to their core.
🪔 Modern Insight:
You don’t have to feel strong all the time. Trembling in awe is a step toward deeper wisdom.
🕉️ Shloka 36
Sanskrit:
अर्जुन उवाच |
स्थाने हृषीकेश तव प्रकीर्त्या
जगत्प्रहृष्यत्यनुरज्यते च |
रक्षांसि भीतानि दिशो द्रवन्ति
सर्वे नमस्यन्ति च सिद्धसङ्घाः ॥11.36॥
Translation (English):
Arjuna said: Rightly, O Hrishikesha, does the world rejoice and sing Your praises. The demons flee in fear, and the hosts of Siddhas bow before You in reverence.
Translation (Hindi):
अर्जुन ने कहा: हे हृषीकेश! आपके यश से जगत उल्लसित होकर आपकी भक्ति करता है, राक्षस भय से भाग जाते हैं, और सिद्धजन आपको नमस्कार करते हैं — यह सब उचित है।
🔍 Deep Reflection:
Arjuna begins to integrate what he sees. The Divine inspires both love and fear — and both responses are valid, even necessary.
🪔 Modern Insight:
When you live with clarity, even the forces of negativity retreat. Alignment with truth transforms your very presence.
🕉️ Shloka 37
Sanskrit:
कस्माच्च ते न नमेरन्महात्मन्
गरीयसे ब्रह्मणोऽप्यादिकर्त्रे |
अनन्त देवेश जगन्निवास
त्वमक्षरं सदसत्तत्परं यत् ॥11.37॥
Translation (English):
Why should they not bow to You, O Great One? You are greater even than Brahma, the original creator. You are the imperishable, beyond the manifest and unmanifest.
Translation (Hindi):
हे महात्मन्! ब्रह्मा के भी आदि कारण आप हैं, इसलिए कौन आपको न मानेगा? आप अनंत हैं, देवताओं के स्वामी हैं, समस्त जगत के आधार हैं — आप सत्-असत् से परे हैं।
🔍 Deep Reflection:
Arjuna surrenders fully now — no more doubt. Krishna is not just God, but the *Source* behind gods, time, space, and form.
🪔 Modern Insight:
Look beyond names and labels. The real truth is not in form — but in formlessness that supports all form.
🕉️ Shloka 38
Sanskrit:
त्वमादिदेवः पुरुषः पुराणः
त्वमस्य विश्वस्य परं निधानम् |
वेत्तासि वेद्यं च परं च धाम
त्वया ततं विश्वमनन्तरूप ॥11.38॥
Translation (English):
You are the primeval God, the ancient Purusha. You are the ultimate refuge of this universe. You are the knower, the knowable, and the supreme abode. This entire cosmos is pervaded by You, in infinite forms.
Translation (Hindi):
आप आदि देव, सनातन पुरुष, समस्त विश्व के परम आधार हैं। आप ही ज्ञाता, ज्ञेय और परम धाम हैं। समस्त सृष्टि आपकी अनंत रूपों से व्याप्त है।
🔍 Deep Reflection:
This is the crescendo of realization — Krishna is not just *in* the universe. He *is* the universe, in infinite expressions.
🪔 Modern Insight:
You are never separate. Every moment, you are held in the divine — whether you see it or not.
🕉️ Shloka 39
Sanskrit:
वायुर्यमोऽग्निर्वरुणः शशाङ्कः
प्रजापतिस्त्वं प्रपितामहश्च |
नमो नमस्तेऽस्तु सहस्रकृत्वः
पुनश्च भूयोऽपि नमो नमस्ते ॥11.39॥

All elements. All forms. All powers — are You. Arjuna’s heart overflows with awe, devotion, and surrender.
🪔 Modern Insight:
Gratitude multiplies awareness. When you see everything as divine, reverence becomes your natural state.
🕉️ Shloka 40
Sanskrit:
नमः पुरस्तादथ पृष्ठतस्ते
नमोऽस्तु ते सर्वतः एव सर्व |
अनन्तवीर्यामितविक्रमस्त्वं
सर्वं समाप्नोषि ततोऽसि सर्वः ॥11.40॥
Translation (English):
Salutations to You from the front, from behind, and from all sides! O All-powerful One, Your strength is infinite, and You pervade everything — therefore You are everything!
Translation (Hindi):
आपको आगे, पीछे, और चारों दिशाओं से नमस्कार है। आपकी शक्ति अनंत है, पराक्रम अपार है। आप सबमें व्याप्त हैं — इसलिए आप ही सब कुछ हैं।
🔍 Deep Reflection:
This is complete surrender. Not just with words, but with the entire being. Arjuna sees no “other” — only One, everywhere.
🪔 Modern Insight:
There’s nowhere the divine is not. Live like everything is sacred — because it is.
