Breaking Illusion’s Final Walls: Non-Dual Vision Beyond Concepts
In these ten verses, Dattatreya brings the non-dual realization to its peak. He declares: there is nothing to attain, nothing to renounce, nothing to distinguish. All division—between God and soul, mind and matter, ritual and freedom—is illusory.
Let’s explore each verse in depth.
🔹 Verse 31
Sanskrit:
घटे भिन्ने घटाकाशं सुलीनं भेदवर्जितम् ।
शिवेन मनसा शुद्धो न भेदः प्रतिभाति मे ॥३१॥
Hindi Translation:
जब घट टूटता है, तो उसमें का आकाश महाकाश में मिल जाता है और भेद मिट जाता है।
वैसे ही, जब मन शिवमय और शुद्ध हो जाता है, तब मुझे किसी प्रकार का भेद प्रतीत नहीं होता।
English Meaning:
When the pot breaks, the space within merges with infinite space, leaving no difference.
When the mind is pure and turned to Shiva, no distinction appears to me.
Real-Life Insight:
Like in Nirvana Shatakam, where Shankaracharya says “I am not the body, nor the mind,” here too the sense of separateness collapses.
The ego is like a pot. When broken, what remains is space—unbounded awareness.
🔹 Verse 32
Sanskrit:
न घटो न घटाकाशो न जीवो न जीवविग्रहः ।
केवलं ब्रह्म संविद्धि वेद्यवेदकवर्जितम् ॥३२॥
Hindi Translation:
न कोई घट है, न घट का आकाश; न जीव है, न जीव की कोई आकृति।
केवल ब्रह्म है—जो जानने वाले और जानने योग्य दोनों से परे है।
English Meaning:
There is no pot, no pot-space, no soul, no form of soul.
Only Brahman exists—pure consciousness beyond subject and object.
Gen Z Reflection (Connected to Nirvana Shatakam):
As Shankara says: "Chidananda Rupa Shivoham" — I am Consciousness-Bliss.
Not body, not mind, not identity. That’s the freedom from all dualities.
🔹 Verse 33
Sanskrit:
सर्वत्र सर्वदा सर्वमात्मानं सततं ध्रुवम् ।
सर्वं शून्यमशून्यं च तन्मां विद्धि न संशयः ॥३३॥
Hindi Translation:
मैं ही वह आत्मा हूं जो हर समय, हर स्थान पर स्थित है—शाश्वत, स्थिर।
मैं ही सब कुछ हूं—जो शून्य भी है और अशून्य भी। इसमें कोई संदेह नहीं।
English Meaning:
I am the Self—everywhere, always, eternal. I am everything—both void and fullness.
Know this with certainty.
Real-Life Insight:
The Void isn’t nothingness. It’s the openness from which all arises.
You are everything and no-thing at once.
🔹 Verse 34
Sanskrit:
वेदा न लोका न सुरा न यज्ञा
वर्णाश्रमो नैव कुलं न जातिः ।
न धूममार्गो न च दीप्तिमार्गो
ब्रह्मैकरूपं परमार्थतत्त्वम् ॥३४॥
Hindi Translation:
न कोई वेद है, न लोक, न देवता, न यज्ञ। न वर्ण है, न आश्रम, न कुल, न जाति।
न धूम मार्ग है, न ज्योति मार्ग। केवल ब्रह्म है—एकरूप परम सत्य।
English Meaning:
No Vedas, no gods, no rituals, no caste, no path of smoke or light.
Only Brahman exists—the one ultimate reality.
Gen Z Reflection:
Your worth is not defined by religion, identity, ritual, or belief system.
Beyond all roles and social constructs—you are Brahman.
🔹 Verse 35
Sanskrit:
व्याप्यव्यापकनिर्मुक्तः त्वमेकः सफलं यदि ।
प्रत्यक्षं चापरोक्षं च ह्यात्मानं मन्यसे कथम् ॥३५॥
Hindi Translation:
यदि तू व्याप्य-व्यापक (वस्तु और चेतना) दोनों से मुक्त, एक और पूर्ण है—
तो तू आत्मा को प्रत्यक्ष या अप्रत्यक्ष कैसे मान सकता है?
English Meaning:
If you are beyond the pervaded and pervader, one and fulfilled,
how can you say the Self is perceptible or imperceptible?
Real-Life Insight:
You’re not an experience. You are that in which all experiences appear and disappear.
🔹 Verse 36
Sanskrit:
अद्वैतं केचिदिच्छन्ति द्वैतमिच्छन्ति चापरे ।
समं तत्त्वं न विन्दन्ति द्वैताद्वैतविवर्जितम् ॥३६॥
Hindi Translation:
कुछ लोग अद्वैत चाहते हैं, कुछ द्वैत। लेकिन वे सम तत्व को नहीं जानते—
जो द्वैत और अद्वैत दोनों से परे है।
English Meaning:
Some seek non-duality, some duality. But they do not know the true reality, which is beyond both.
Gen Z Reflection:
Truth isn’t in choosing sides (monism vs theism). It’s in going beyond concepts altogether.
Freedom lies outside the debate.
🔹 Verse 37
Sanskrit:
श्वेतादिवर्णरहितं शब्दादिगुणवर्जितम् ।
कथयन्ति कथं तत्त्वं मनोवाचामगोचरम् ॥३७॥
Hindi Translation:
जो तत्व न सफेद है न रंगों में है, न ध्वनि आदि गुणों में है—
जो मन और वाणी की सीमा से बाहर है—उसे लोग कैसे वर्णित कर सकते हैं?
English Meaning:
How can people describe Truth, which is beyond color, sound, qualities, mind, and speech?
Gen Z Insight:
No caption, quote, or theory can capture the real You.
Stop trying to describe the Truth. Be it.
🔹 Verse 38
Sanskrit:
यदाऽनृतमिदं सर्वं देहादिगगनोपमम् ।
तदा हि ब्रह्म संवेत्ति न ते द्वैतपरम्परा ॥३८॥
Hindi Translation:
जब यह सब—देह आदि—तुझे मिथ्या आकाश-जैसा प्रतीत होने लगे,
तभी तू ब्रह्म को जानता है। तब द्वैत की कोई परंपरा नहीं रहती।
English Meaning:
When all this—body, etc.—appears to you as illusory, like space, then you know Brahman.
Then there is no trace of duality.
Real-Life Insight:
You don’t “become” spiritual—you realize that all this was a dream.
When the ego drops, what remains is only Brahman.
🔹 Verse 39
Sanskrit:
परेण सहजात्मापि ह्यभिन्नः प्रतिभाति मे ।
व्योमाकारं तथैवैकं ध्याता ध्यानं कथं भवेत् ॥३९॥
Hindi Translation:
मेरी सहज आत्मा भी परम से अभिन्न प्रतीत होती है। वह एक ही है, आकाश जैसी।
तो फिर ध्यानकर्ता और ध्यान—ये कैसे संभव हैं?
English Meaning:
My own nature appears to me as non-different from the Supreme. One and sky-like—
how then can there be meditator or meditation?
Gen Z Insight:
Once the seeker merges with the sought, meditation ends.
There is only being—not doing.
🔹 Verse 40
Sanskrit:
यत्करोमि यदश्नामि यज्जुहोमि ददामि यत् ।
एतत्सर्वं न मे किंचिद्विशुद्धोऽहमजोऽव्ययः ॥४०॥
Hindi Translation:
जो कुछ मैं करता हूं, खाता हूं, अर्पित करता हूं, देता हूं—वह कुछ भी मेरा नहीं है।
मैं विशुद्ध हूं, अजन्मा हूं, अविनाशी हूं।
English Meaning:
What I do, eat, offer, or give—none of it is mine.
I am pure, unborn, unchanging.
Real-Life Insight:
Drop the illusion of “I am the doer.”
You are the unchanging observer of all change.

This set of verses removes all residue of illusion:
