 Chapter 4 of the Avadhuta Gita marks a sharp turn inward.

🔹 Verse 4.1 — No Ritual, No Worship

Sanskrit:
नावाहनं नैव विसर्जनं वा
पुष्पाणि पत्राणि कथं भवन्ति ।
ध्यानानि मन्त्राणि कथं भवन्ति
समासमं चैव शिवार्चनं च ॥

Translation:
There is no invocation, nor dismissal.
How can there be flowers or leaves?
How can there be meditation or mantra?
What worship is possible in perfect oneness?

Hindi:
न आवाहन है, न विसर्जन।
न फूल-पत्ते, न ध्यान, न मंत्र।
शिव की उपासना कहाँ, जब सब समरस है?

Insight:
Ritual only exists where there is a sense of separation. When all is One — who is left to offer, and who to receive?

Modern Reflection:
When you know you're not separate from Source, all outer forms of seeking naturally drop. You're not worshipping the Divine — you’re what the Divine is.

Sanskrit:
न केवलं बन्धविबन्धमुक्तो
न केवलं शुद्धविशुद्धमुक्तः ।
न केवलं योगवियोगमुक्तः
स वै विमुक्तो गगनोपमोऽहम् ॥

Translation:
The Self is not free because it broke bonds.
Not pure because it overcame impurity.
Not liberated through union or separation.
I am the truly free one — like the sky.

Hindi:
मैं बंधन-मुक्त इसलिए नहीं कि पहले बंधन था।
न शुद्ध इसलिए कि पहले अशुद्ध था।
न योग-वियोग से जुड़ा हूँ।
मैं तो आकाश जैसा स्वच्छंद मुक्त हूँ।

Reflection:
Freedom is not the opposite of bondage. True freedom was never bound to begin with.

🔹 Verse 4.3 — Neither Reality Nor Illusion Arises in Me

Sanskrit:
सञ्जायते सर्वमिदं हि तथ्यं
सञ्जायते सर्वमिदं वितथ्यम् ।
एवं विकल्पो मम नैव जातः
स्वरूपनिर्वाणमनामयोऽहम् ॥

Translation:
I never developed the belief that “this world is real”
nor the opposite that “it is false.”
No such judgment has ever arisen in me.
I am formless and beyond all disease.

न यह विचार कभी आया कि यह संसार सत्य है,
न यह कि यह असत्य है।
कोई विकल्प मुझमें जन्मा ही नहीं।
मैं स्वरूप से ही निर्वाण हूँ, रोग रहित।

Truth lies before conclusions. Reality doesn’t need to be called real or unreal. It just is.

न साञ्जनं चैव निरञ्जनं वा
न चान्तरं वापि निरन्तरं वा ।
अन्तर्विभन्नं न हि मे विभाति
स्वरूपनिर्वाणमनामयोऽहम् ॥

Translation:
I see no stain or stainlessness.
No inner, no outer.
No difference appears to me.
I am formless, liberated, disease-free.

न मुझमें मल है, न अमल।
न अंतर है, न बहिरंग।
मुझे कोई विभाजन नहीं दिखता।
मैं हूँ निर्वाणस्वरूप।

Spiritual maturity is not obsessing over purity. It’s realizing you were never impure.

Sanskrit:
अबोधबोधो मम नैव जातो
बोधस्वरूपं मम नैव जातम् ।
निर्बोधबोधं च कथं वदामि
स्वरूपनिर्वाणमनामयोऽहम् ॥

Translation:
I never became ignorant.
I never became enlightened.
How can I speak of ignorance and wisdom?
I am beyond all these.

न मैंने अज्ञान पाया,
न ज्ञान की प्राप्ति हुई।
अज्ञान-ज्ञान का प्रश्न ही कहाँ?
मैं अपने स्वरूप में मुक्त हूँ।

न धर्मयुक्तो न च पापयुक्तो
न बन्धयुक्तो न च मोक्षयुक्तः ।
युक्तं त्वयुक्तं न च मे विभाति

Translation:
Virtue, sin, bondage, liberation — none apply to me.
Union or separation don’t touch me.
I am formless, beyond disease, beyond duality.

न मैं धर्मयुक्त हूँ, न पापयुक्त।
न मैं बंधन में हूँ, न मोक्ष में।
युक्त या अयुक्त कुछ भी नहीं लगता।
मैं शुद्ध स्वरूप हूँ।

You are not the "good person" or the "bad person." You are the witness of both stories.

परापरं वा न च मे कदाचित्
मध्यस्थभावो हि न चारिमित्रम् ।

I have no higher or lower position,
no friend, no enemy,
no good or evil to speak of.
I am eternally free.

नोपासको नैवमुपास्यरूपं
न चोपदेशो न च मे क्रिया च ।

I am not a worshipper, nor the one to be worshipped.
I do not teach, nor do I act.
How can I describe myself, pure consciousness?

न मैं उपास्य हूँ।

मैं केवल चेतना स्वरूप हूँ।

Once you realize the Self, all methods and traditions fall away. You stand in what already is.

नो व्यापकं व्याप्यमिहास्ति किञ्चित्
न चालयं वापि निरालयं वा ।
अशून्यशून्यं च कथं वदामि
स्वरूपनिर्वाणमनामयोऽहम् ॥

Translation:
There is nothing here that pervades,
nothing that is pervaded.
No abode, no absence of abode.
Not full or empty — just presence.

न कुछ व्यापक है,
न कुछ व्याप्त है।
न कोई निवास है, न अनिवास।
न शून्य, न अशून्य।
मैं सिर्फ मैं हूँ।

न ग्राहको ग्राह्यकमेव किञ्चित्
न कारणं वा मम नैव कार्यम् ।

There’s no one to grasp, nothing to grasp.
No cause, no effect.
I cannot be thought of — or not thought of.
I simply am.

न कोई ज्ञाता है, न ज्ञेय।

मैं न चिंतनीय हूँ, न अचिंतनीय।
