🕉️ Chapter 7 – The Yoga of Knowledge and Wisdom: Shlokas 11–20
Krishna now reveals how even the good qualities in us are Him. Yet most people are caught in illusion (Maya) and worship external powers, forgetting the Supreme behind them all. But those with unwavering devotion reach Him directly.
📜 Shloka 11
English Translation:
I am the strength of the strong, free from desire and attachment. I am righteous desire that is in harmony with Dharma, O Arjuna.
🔍 Deep Reflection:
Not all desire is wrong — when aligned with Dharma, it becomes divine purpose.
🪔 Modern Insight:
Your drive, when untainted by ego or greed, is sacred energy in motion.
📜 Shloka 12
English Translation:
Whatever qualities arise from sattva, rajas, or tamas — know them as coming from Me. Yet I am not in them — they are in Me.
🔍 Deep Reflection:
God is the source of all modes, but remains untouched by them — like the sun illuminating both pure and impure places.
🪔 Modern Insight:
You’re not your mood or emotion — your essence is above all three gunas.
📜 Shloka 13
English Translation:
The world, deluded by these three gunas (modes of nature), does not recognize Me — who is beyond them and eternal.
🔍 Deep Reflection:
Illusion isn’t just distraction — it’s identifying with the temporary and forgetting the eternal.
🪔 Modern Insight:
Maya is not magic — it’s mistaking passing waves for the ocean itself.
📜 Shloka 14
English Translation:
This divine Maya, made of the three gunas, is hard to overcome. But those who surrender to Me cross beyond it.
🔍 Deep Reflection:
You can't fight illusion alone — you transcend it through surrender.
🪔 Modern Insight:
Control can’t defeat confusion — but connection can.
📜 Shloka 15
English Translation:
The ignorant, evil-doers, and lowest of men — whose wisdom is stolen by illusion and who hold demonic views — do not surrender to Me.
🔍 Deep Reflection:
The refusal to surrender often comes not from intelligence, but arrogance rooted in delusion.
🪔 Modern Insight:
Spiritual blindness isn’t lack of intellect — it’s lack of humility.
📜 Shloka 16
English Translation:
Four kinds of virtuous people worship Me: the distressed, the seeker of knowledge, the wealth-seeker, and the wise one, O Arjuna.
🔍 Deep Reflection:
All longing — whether for help, truth, or success — eventually leads to the Divine. Every prayer matters.
🪔 Modern Insight:
Even when you're desperate — that’s still a door to devotion.
📜 Shloka 17
English Translation:
Of these, the wise one, ever united and devoted solely to Me, is the most dear. For I am extremely dear to the wise — and they are dear to Me.
🔍 Deep Reflection:
Devotion with understanding becomes love that never leaves.
🪔 Modern Insight:
You don’t need a reason to love God. Just recognition.
📜 Shloka 18
English Translation:
All four are noble, but the wise one is My very Self. Steadfast in devotion, they reach Me — the highest goal.
🔍 Deep Reflection:
In the end, wisdom becomes union. Knowledge matures into love, and love into oneness.
🪔 Modern Insight:
The more you know the Divine, the less “other” He feels.
📜 Shloka 19
English Translation:
After many births, the wise one surrenders to Me, realizing: “Vasudeva is all.” Such a great soul is truly rare.
🔍 Deep Reflection:
The truth isn't new — it’s remembered after lifetimes of forgetting.
🪔 Modern Insight:
The soul’s graduation? When it stops seeking pieces and sees the Whole.
📜 Shloka 20
English Translation:
Those whose wisdom is stolen by desires worship other gods, following various rituals as guided by their nature.
🔍 Deep Reflection:
Desire fragments worship. Devotion unites it. True seekers don’t stop at forms — they reach the formless Source.
🪔 Modern Insight:
Don’t confuse spirituality with superstition. Seek the Source, not just symbols.
