🕉️ Chapter 7 – The Yoga of Knowledge and Wisdom: Shlokas 1–10
Krishna now shifts from inner discipline (meditation) to deep knowledge of His true nature. This chapter explores the real vs the illusory, the material vs the eternal — and invites seekers to know not just the world, but the One behind it.
📜 Shloka 1
श्रीभगवानुवाच
मय्यासक्तमना: पार्थ योगं युञ्जन्मदाश्रय: |
असंशयं समग्रं मां यथा ज्ञास्यसि तच्छृणु ॥1॥
English Translation:
Krishna said: Hear how, with your mind fixed on Me and taking refuge in Me through yoga, you shall know Me completely and without doubt.

भगवान ने कहा: हे पार्थ! मन को मुझमें लगाकर और योग का आश्रय लेकर, जब तू मेरे विषय में पूर्ण ज्ञान प्राप्त करेगा — तो वह ज्ञान निष्कलंक और संपूर्ण होगा।

ज्ञानं तेऽहं सविज्ञानमिदं वक्ष्याम्यशेषतः |
यज्ज्ञात्वा नेह भूयोऽन्यज्ज्ञातव्यमवशिष्यते ॥2॥
English Translation:
I shall now reveal to you this complete knowledge, both theoretical and experiential. Once known, nothing else remains to be known.

मैं तुझे संपूर्ण ज्ञान और अनुभव सहित विज्ञान बताऊँगा — जिसे जानकर फिर कुछ भी जानने योग्य शेष नहीं रह जाता।

मनुष्याणां सहस्रेषु कश्चिद्यतति सिद्धये |
यततामपि सिद्धानां कश्चिन्मां वेत्ति तत्त्वतः ॥3॥
English Translation:
Among thousands, perhaps one strives for perfection. And among those rare seekers, only a few truly know Me in essence.

हजारों में कोई एक सिद्धि के लिए प्रयास करता है; और उन सिद्धों में भी कोई एक ही मुझे वास्तविकता में जानता है।

भूमिरापोऽनलो वायुः खं मनो बुद्धिरेव च |
अहंकार इतीयं मे भिन्ना प्रकृतिरष्टधा ॥4॥

Earth, water, fire, air, space, mind, intellect, and ego — these eight are My separated material energies.

अपरेयमितस्त्वन्यां प्रकृतिं विद्धि मे पराम् |
जीवभूतां महाबाहो ययेदं धार्यते जगत् ॥5॥

But beyond this material nature is My higher nature — the living beings (jivas) — who sustain the world.

Understand that all beings come from these two natures. I am both the origin and the dissolution of the entire cosmos.

There is nothing higher than Me, O Arjuna. All this world is strung on Me like pearls on a thread.

English Translation:
I am the taste in water, the light in the moon and sun, the sacred syllable Om in all the Vedas, the sound in ether, and the strength in humans.

I am the pure scent in the earth, the brilliance in fire, the life in all beings, and the austerity of ascetics.

Know Me, O Arjuna, as the eternal seed of all beings. I am the wisdom of the wise and the brilliance of the brilliant.
